NYX Liquid Suede Metallic Matte | Review

I thought it was about time I jumped on the metallic lip bandwagon and see what it was about for myself. I picked up two NYX Liquid Suede Metallic Matte in the shades Pure Society and Biker Babe.

Top: Pure Society Bottom: Biker Babe

Falling for the metallic lip hype, I picked up the Liquid Suede versions as I liked the formula of the original liquid suede by NYX. For £7 each, you get 4ml of product which compared with Smashbox’s Be Legendary Metal Liquid Lipstick at £19 for 8ml, isn’t too bad.

The packaging for both are metallic shades of the colour in the bottle. The applicator is at a weird angle and is rectangular, which does not make it easy to apply precisely! Unlike the Soft Matte Lip Creams, these metallic shades have no smell to them.

There are 12 shades in this collection at the moment. I chose Biker Babe which is a crimson metallic red and Pure Society a deep purple. Both shades are very pigmented, only needing one coat to get full pigmentation. Plus they dry very quickly, which is both a good thing as it means when going out for a meal (as I leave applying lipstick until last) it is totally dry before even leaving the door. But also a bad thing as if a mistake is made you have to act fast to correct it!

Although the original liquid suede’s are quite comfortable to wear on the lips, however the formula on the metallics is really, really drying. I’m really not a fan of this formula. Which is a shame as the colours are pretty. However I found when I applied lip balm first, they applied a lot better. They took longer to dry and eventually had a drying feeling, but definitely more wearable! I’d recommend to apply lip balm before applying these or I find they are so uncomfortable and drying it’s not worth wearing!

Pure Society

Biker Babe

As you can see from the photos above, they look very metallic, both are applied with a layer of lip balm underneath.  From the photo of Biker Babe, my mouth looks quite red around my lips, this is because I really had to scrub off Pure Society. No matter how much foundation I applied after almost scrubbing off a layer of skin to get the shade off, my skin wouldn’t get any less red!

When it came to removing these metallic shades is a struggle, I really had to scrub my lips with my makeup remover to get it all off. And usually my makeup remover is pretty good at removing makeup that won’t budge easily like the Kat Von D Tattoo liner. I only wore the shade for around 4 hours and when I had eventually scrubbed it off it left my lips stained bright pink!

The left picture is with flash and the other is without, my lips were still this colour when I woke up the next day!

Overall I won’t be purchasing any more from this range! I am still on the hunt to try out other metallic lipsticks! Have you tried any metallic lipsticks? If so which ones do you recommend?

Thank you so much for reading! Until next time!

These colors look beautiful! That is crazy they were so hard to take off though. I posted a rose gold gloss I tried last month and it was a little too metallic for me, though I got a lot of compliments on it.

These shades look so pretty, it’s unfortunate that they ended up staining your lips! Today I picked up the new Loreal Metallic Matte Lip Paint in the shade cute psych, I swatched it and it’s so pigmented. It hasn’t rubbed off at all, it’s been on my lips for about 5 hours and that’s with drinking and eating. I’m very impressed so far I’ll probably do a full review on it soon. x

Great review! I have Biker Babe too, I love them because they last for so long but you’re right.. they do stain which is unfortunate! I found the actual consistency of them were quite wet when first applied but I have to say I really like them! Xx
