What’s In My Travel Bag – Summer 2018 Edition

In my two years of blogging I have never done a post like this. Over the past few weeks  I have had a lot of weekends away, so thought I would share with you what products I take away with me! Personally I only like to take makeup I know is going to work and that I love. This way I know when I’m getting ready I haven’t got to worry about anything creasing or smudging or looking like a hot mess. Plus I don’t like to spend too long on my makeup for the day as I want to be out exploring and making the most of my time off!

Starting with the pouch it’s from Smashbox that I got for free when there was a promotion to spend a certain amount of money you got a free pouch. It’s clear so I can see everything inside and it’s a really decent size, not too big but not too small either. Ideally I’d like the travel cases that have different compartments that can hold all skincare, makeup and brushes in one but I’ve yet to find one that I like.

fullsizeoutput_4d7I always pack my makeup in the order I apply it so that way I can’t forget anything!. The first thing making it’s way on holiday is the No 7 Airbrush Away Pore Minimising Primer. This is one of my faves, smoothes my skin and virtually gets rid of my pores. Next is mascara, Urban Decay Perversion. On holidays I don’t do much with the eyes during the day, but in the evenings I’ll use my bronzer and highlight to make the eye pop more. But as I have oily eyelids, heat and eyeshadows don’t mix well – even with primers. So the eyes are pretty neutral.

For brows I take the Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Sculpting Crayon and Setting Gel as well as the Archery 2-in-1 Brow Pencil and Brush. To set the brows I use Soap & Glory Volu-Boost Brow Fibre Gel. Then going back to the face I’ll take my NYX HD Concealer for under my eyes and any blemishes, setting it with the RCMA No Colour Powder. To contour the cheekbones I’ll take The Body Shop Honey Bronzer and for highlight the Sleek Solstice palette.

That’s pretty much it for my base makeup, usually taking me around 5-10 minutes to do. As added extras I might bring along my Urban Decay One & Done Foundation and the Barry M Liquid Chrome highlighter, depending what I’m getting up to during the time away. Plus if the weather is warm it’s unlikely I’ll wear a lot of makeup.

For the lips I like to take a few options. I take  the No 7 High Shine Lip Gloss in Sparkling Rose and Buxom Lipgloss in White Russian. Then for lipsticks I take the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Morocco and Ibiza as well as a more nude option in Jouer Lip Creme in Blush so I have a few options on what look I want to go for. I also take the NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner in Cannes for the lip glosses to go over. Then to set everything in place Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray is the one for me!

Then for brushes I use an Urban Decay brush bag which I got from an Urban Decay brush gift set for my birthday. I find this to be super handy as it stands up and so makes finding the brushes easier. The holder zips down and folds over, revelling the brushes making it super easy to grab the one wanted.

I don’t take loads of brushes as I don’t have a lot of makeup to apply. I take the Urban Decay Optical Blurring F105 for concealer/foundation. The Spectrum C03 for the setting powder, Spectrum A02 for contour and for highlight the Spectrum A10 brush. For the eyes I take a Seventeen Eye brush, Spectrum C06, B06 and A13. So I have the option to do a soft eye with shadow on the lower lash line.

And those are all the things I take away on weekend breaks/a few nights stay during the summer. I keep my makeup pretty simple when on holiday as I like to be pretty quick so I can get out the door and explore!

Thank you so much for reading! What are some of your essential products to travel with? Until next time
