I did a declutter in April, which you can check out here, and I focused mainly on my eye products. I am so bad at holding onto lip products that I didn’t want to face that challenge! As I don’t often pick up quite a few shades in my collection I thought it was about time I really sorted them out. I also filmed my Makeup Collection & Declutter, which you can check out to see how I store everything here!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm, Cannes, Antwerp and Toulouse
I love the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, Stockholm and Cannes are some of my fave shades! The formula is super comfortable, easy to reapply after eating without becoming super drying and I find it doesn’t really dry my lips out! However both have dried out and I will definitely be repurchasing these! I already have a shade similar to Antwerp that hasn’t dried out and I don’t really reach for the shade Toulouse.
NYX Lip Lingerie in Push-Up and Exotic
I bought this after seeing many reviews when they came out. So I picked up two shades. I like the formula of these, they are more drying the the Soft Matte Lip Creams. However I am not a fan of Push-Up on me. In the bottle it looks like a pretty pinky nude. When I apply it I find it to be more cool toned, which I don’t reach for as I don’t think it suits me. I also find it to be too pale for my skin tone, I think as it is cool toned and quite pale that it doesn’t do anything for my complexion!
Exotic I really like and am decluttering as the formula has changed and gone lumpy. I have already repurchased another!
NYX Liquid Suede in Soft-Spoken and Run the World
I am decluttering Soft-Spoken as although I like the shade I find I have similar shades, plus the use by date is 6 months after opening and I have had this shade for a year if not more open! I bought Run the World for a specific makeup look and have never really reached for it since! It’s been open way longer than the recommended expiry date. Plus I find they both smell quite chemically.
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick in Super Nude
I bought this as I was after a similar shade to MAC Velvet Teddy, whilst it’s not a dupe I thought the shade was okay. However I find that after a few hours the shade can start to become patchy and stick into the lines of my lips. Which is not a good look. I also found that whilst initially I did like the shade that it was slightly too orange for my skin tone.
Eylure Enchanted Mermaids are Cool
These looked like such pretty lashes, and they do look really nice on. However I find the lash band, whilst it doesn’t look it, too thick on the inner corner. I find with these lashes I really have to push the band on my lash line which can make wearing them uncomfortable and I always can’t wait to go home and take them off again!
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Original
I did a review on this earlier in the year, I still only used it for more glam/going out makeup looks. It is a nice addition to my collection and definitely helps keep my eye makeup looking fresh.
Lime Crime Velvetines in Red Velvet, Polly, Pumpkin, Saint and True Love
Initially when I bought two of these I really like the formula and was then gifted 3. They are pigmented and can be applied in one coat. However I found that if worn longer than a few hours they become super drying and uncomfortable. I also found that they can’t be reapplied as they then become so drying, uncomfortable and look terrible as they dry out the lips so badly! I am a little gutted about these as I really wanted to like them, plus they are a little pricey!
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint
I bought this last Spring after seeing good reviews on it. However the lightest shade Finland is slightly too orange for my skin tone, but once blended down the neck it’s not noticeable. This is a super matte formula. When I bought it I was trying to combat looking oily and had yet to come to terms that actually my skin will never look matte no matter what products I used. Anyway, this foundation is a good coverage but I found it sticks to dry patches on my skin I didn’t even know I had, mainly around my nose and eyebrows. No matter what season I use this in, spring, summer, autumn or winter this foundation just sits in the dry patches of my skin. Even after using a good moisturiser it still clings in those dry areas. So for me it hasn’t worked as I’d hoped. I’ve still managed to get a good use out of it as I had been using it for makeup practices for my course, so it wasn’t a total waste!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer and Naked Skin Colour Corrector
After being on the hunt for a good concealer I came across good reviews of this one and thought I may as well give it ago. I don’t often buy high end concealers and decided to treat myself. However after the palaver of being given the wrong shade in store the correct shade I was given had exploded in the packaging. But I couldn’t keep going back to the store and waiting to go to an Urban Decay counter (as I don’t live near one). After using it for a few months the formula was fine, the coverage was okay – definitely not full coverage as it is described. After I would say 6 months the formula started change, I think this is down to the packaging always leaking no matter how I stored it, laying down or stood up some how product always managed to leak. Needless to say, I won’t be repurchasing this! If you’d like to read an in-depth review you can do so here!
As for the colour corrector, I did like this but after a while I didn’t really reach for it. I find that the formula has gone a bit weird now too when applying.
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer
After seeing so much hype on this concealer when I saw this in stock I grabbed my chance to try it! However I’m really not a fan. Don’t get me wrong it is full coverage but the longevity isn’t there. I find it creases so badly, even when I only put a little on and it starts to break up on my skin. Even though I haven’t used this a mega amount there is only a little left at the bottom, this has the same amount of product in my NYX HD concealer and yet the Makeup Revolution one hasn’t even lasted 3 months!? Plus I find it smell awful!
Makeup Geek Contour Pan in Bad Habit and Blush Pan in Valentine
I have had these two pans for a really long time! They are both super pigmented and I really like the formula. However the texture was starting to change on both pans, plus I didn’t realise how long I’d had them until I went to repurchased them only to find out they had been discontinued!
And those are all the things I am going to be decluttering! I am so bad at holding onto products, even if they have gone past their expiry date! But I sort of feel like it’s a waste of a product if I don’t use it all up – even if I don’t like it! But I also know that it’s just makeup and no one has time for wearing makeup they don’t like! Thank you so much for reading! Until next time
