A little while ago I got the Be Legendary Liquid Metal Lipstick in Mauve Squad in a gift set from Smashbox. I had never tried a metallic lipstick, I wasn’t sure I’d really wear it. So when I received this one it was a great chance to try one out.
For £19 you get 8ml of product, which is exactly the same as NYX Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream which is £6. The Be Legendary Liquid Metal Lipsticks are described on Smashbox.co.uk as;
This liquid lip formula glides on the full coverage of a lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in a single coat.
• Formulated without Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Phthalates, Silicone, Oil & Talc.
• Metallic & vinyl-like finishes
• Delivers one-coat rich, saturated colour
• Foolproof precision tip applicator distributes product evenly
• Makes lips appear more plump & full
• Feels soft & comfortable on lips; non-gritty
What I really like about this liquid lipstick is the applicator, it makes it super easy to apply and is almost shaped like a triangle and hugs the lip as it’s applied. With the pointed end making it easy to line the lips and the applying product on the rest of the lips with the flatter side.
The lipstick itself smells very sweet like vanilla, which I don’t mind in a lipstick. Mauve Squad is a mauve shade, one I would go for if it wasn’t metallic. Since I’ve had it I haven’t reached for it a lot. I really like the shade but I’m on the fence with the formula, I find it to be quite wet.
Whilst I’m a fan of glossy lips I find this formula can get quite messy. It’s super easy to apply too much on the lips and end up with it all over your teeth when talking. I also found that it transfers really easily, which was a pain when I went out for dinner testing this lipstick! I was really paranoid when I wore this that it was all over my teeth, with with other glosses I don’t!
Overall I think the shade is really pretty and would be great for a night out or festivals. It is comfortable to wear and isn’t sticky or gritty. When it does start to fade on the lips, for me I found it faded quite nicely with my natural lip colour and wasn’t super obvious. If you’re in the market for a glossy metallic lip then this is right up your street. But for me I don’t always want something that looks so glossy and wet.
Thank you so much for reading, have you tried the metallic lip trend? Until next time x
