Urban Decay Naked Skin Pressed Finishing Powder | Review

Within the beauty community there are a handful of powders that are cult favourites, with many others being left in their shadow. A little while ago I was looking for a pressed powder, as I am far too clumsy to always be using a loose powder. So on a trip to Debenhams I decided to try one from Urban Decay, out of all the Urban Decay products I’ve tried there aren’t many I don’t like.

I decided to pick up the Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder in Naked Medium Light, for £24.50 it’s described on urbandecay.co.uk as;

Finish getting Naked. Whether you’ve applied a full face of makeup and want to set it, or just want a little mattifying powder, look no further. Discover our Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Setting Powder for that flawless finishing touch.

Designed to cut through shine with its demi-matte luminous finish, our pressed finishing powder is virtually invisible once applied – and with such a silky, luxurious texture, you’ll still feel naked! We dislike chalky, cakey powders as much as you, so trust us, this powder concentrates on creating a radiant, natural-looking coverage. It enhances any makeup look. Designed to be virtually invisible on your skin, UD’s high-tech, light-reflecting formula “fools” the eye with optical blurring, seemingly airbrushing away imperfections and creating a soft-focus effect for skin that looks professionally retouched.

And the cherry on top? The gorgeous gunmetal and champagne coloured custom compact, of course! Boasting a full-size mirror and a fancy Naked-embossed button which dispenses just the right amount of powder each time. Naked touch ups have never been so luxurious!

I didn’t go into Debenhams knowing what powder I wanted, I tried some at other counters but didn’t like what they had to offer. The Urban Decay counter makeup artist encouraged me to try the Naked Skin powder when I had explained what I was looking for – a lightweight everyday setting powder that can be worn on it’s own or to set foundation/concealer.

The makeup artist then tried it on my skin and it just blended in, leaving a really nice finish. So it came home with me and since then I have used it for both everyday looks and glam looks.

I have looked at other reviews online and a lot of people seem to have a problem with the packaging, where the compact has snapped in half when pushed back too far. I open mine to a 90 degree angle normally, and when I opened it as far as it would go it did seem a little fragile, but I’ve not had any problems with it. Others seemed to say their product wasn’t in the pan properly causing it to smash, I’ve not had any problems with mine, it seems to be in the pan correctly.

The packaging is really sleek and sturdy (other than pushing the lid back too far), great for travelling! The powder can only be opened by pushing a little button, which I really like as it makes the product secure inside. Plus is comes with a little sponge to apply the powder, which I prefer to use my Spectrum C03 brush to apply.

I haven’t seen anyone really talk about this setting powder, but I love it! It doesn’t look cakey on the skin, it sets foundation beautifully as well as concealer. It definitely makes my skin look flawless and I’m obsessed with this! I think it’s one of the best powders I’ve tried and I highly recommend it if your looking for a new setting powder!

Thank you so much for reading, what’s your favourite setting powder? Until next time
