It has been a very long time since I have done one of these posts. After sorting out my makeup and getting rid of products I knew I didn’t like and didn’t enjoy using up I thought I would share with you some of the products I have not enjoyed trying nor worth the money in my opinion!
Kat Von D Lock It Setting Powder
I am constantly on the hunt for a good setting powder, so decided to try this one from Kat Von D. However, even though it set my makeup nicely I always found I would have little red dots appear on my skin after using it. So it’s a no go for me.
Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer
Admittedly this product isn’t really aimed for my skin type, as it only claims to be hydrating and for makeup to apply well on top. But I was going through a phase in my skin where it was quite dry. It did hydrate my skin, but I would end up looking quite shiny at the end of the day. Plus I didn’t notice a difference in how my foundation would apply on top.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
I feel like I’m never impressed with Too Faced products. They always seem to be great at first but then let me down. I saw so many people rave about this foundation, it applies so beautifully, my skin looks really healthy and naturally radiant. But as soon as it’s been a few hours that’s it, everything goes downhill. I find it separates on my skin, makes me look really shiny and overall not a great look after only a few hours wear.
NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Loose Setting Powder
Another try in the hope of finding a good setting powder. This one is matte so I thought would be good for my t-zone. However I have found it just doesn’t sit well on my skin. I took it on holiday, thinking it would be a great idea, but it just made my skin look so dry and patchy.
Nip and Fab Concealer
I have never tried any makeup from Nip & Fab, and this concealer hasn’t made me want to try much more. I found it has a very light coverage that isn’t buildable, which personally I like more of a medium coverage to make me look like I’ve slept. Plus it looks very dewy under the eyes, which isn’t something I go for as it made me look odd with shiny under eyes. I also found it didn’t sit well on top of foundation, it seemed to separate no matter how I applied it.
Kylie Cosmetics Super Glitter Gloss in Glitz
I like the way this gloss looks, I just can’t stand the chemical smell nor how bitty the gloss is. It doesn’t feel smooth when I rub my lips together, it’s like I’m rubbing a lip scrub. I also hate how hard it is to get off, I end up with glitter all around my mouth no matter how many times I use makeup remover.
NYX Stay On, Glide On Waterproof Eyeliner
I wanted to try a brown eyeliner and this one is not one I’ll be picking up again. It doesn’t stay on the lower lash line for long, not to mention not being very pigmented. I also found it hard to blend if I wanted a smokey lash line.
Whilst these products haven’t worked for me, they will for some! Even though I hate to waste makeup products, I have tried to use up what I can, like the Smashbox primer was easy to use up and I have been using the Too Faced foundation for creating makeup looks for social media. Have you tried makeup products that didn’t work for you, let me know in the comments below!
