Urban Decay On the Run Detour Palette | Review

I don’t usually go for smaller palettes, not for any reason I always just gravitate more towards the bigger palettes. When I received the Born To Run Detour palette as a gift, it was a nice addition to my collection.

With 3 mini On The Run palettes to chose from, the Detour palette is made up of 8 shades, and is £24 and is described as:

Take some much-needed OOO (Out of Office) time and hit the road with On the Run, our trio of travel-ready mini palettes. Inspired by our Born to Run Palette, these minis are the perfect carry-on for your next getaway or last-minute trip. Each eight-pan palette is packed with curated mattes and metallics, including a transformer shade that can switch up your look or add a touch of icy shimmer. Just like our other palettes, On the Run contains our same mind-blowing formula that gives velvety texture, rich color payoff, and damn good blendability.

Go from zero to sixty with Bailout–this palette is packed with go-to cocoa neutrals, violets, and an iridescent lavender transformer shade.
Head out on an unexpected adventure with Detour, which is loaded with sienna-hued neutrals, a deep metallic teal, and an unexpected holographic transformer shade.

Find your own way with Shortcut and its mix of blush-toned neutrals and deep desert rose hues. Add extra shimmer with a coppery red transformer shade.

The shades in the palette are :
DASH: pale bronze-gold shift
ESCAPE: warm peach matte
DETOUR: deep mustard matte
16TH STREET: metallic bronze-gold
CONFIDENTIAL: deep terra-cotta matte
SWITCHBACK: hologrpahic green shift (transformer shade)
OFF THE GRID: pink ivory matte
PLUNGE: deep metallic blue green

I do already have the Born To Run palette in my collection, so wasn’t sure if it would be a repeat of shades, however the shades are different to the bigger Born To Run palette. The shades of the palette are beautiful, the formula is the same as the other Urban Decay palettes I own and give off beautiful colour without having too much fall out in the pan. The shades are easy to build up to be as intense or soft as you’d like, easy to blend out. The shimmers are smooth and pigmented.

Using the shades Escape, Detour and Dash for a super quick and simple look. With Switchback for the inner corner eye highlight
Adding the shade Confidential to deepen the look
Making it a more evening look by adding the shade Plunge on the lower lash line

I love to use this palette for quick everyday looks, I set my eyeshadow base with Off The Grid then popping Escape and Detour in the crease of my eye, Dash all over the lid and I use Confidential to fill in my brows. It’s super quick and easy for work. Plus I think this palette is perfect for taking on holiday, it small but has all the shades needed to create quick daytime looks, as well as evening looks.

The Detour palette is the perfect mini palette for neutral shadows with a pop of colour. I surprised myself with how much I love this palette. It has definitely got me thinking about buying more smaller palettes, they are just prefect for having all the right shades to create plenty of different looks for daytime and nighttime looks when on holiday or for work!

I love this little palette, it is definitely a go to in my collection! What’s your go to palette, let me know in the comments below! Thank you so much for reading,
